Looking Back on 2025 and forward to the Miami Springs Centennial

2025 was a productive year for the Pelican Playhouse! We staged five different shows: two featuring our Young Pelicans (ages 5–9) and three Main Stage productions (ages 9 and up).

Performances included:

  • The Pelican Funnies (featuring The Tortoise and the HareBad Auditions, and a Taylor Swift parody, Haters)
  • Shake Shorts (featuring Pyramus and ThisbeA Comedy of Errors, and Appropriate Audience Behavior)
  • The Pelican Summer Recital ’25
  • And our Young Pelican Spring and Holiday Show and Cookie Social, which included the world premiere of a staged version of story written by the sister of Glenn Curtiss, Rutha Curtiss.

Beyond the stage, we supported the City of Miami Springs during their Howl-O-Springs event on the Circle (see photos below). It was a blast of family-friendly (but spooky!) fun.

Looking Ahead: We are thrilled to announce a Miami Springs Centennial Extravaganza later in 2026. Hint: It will include an update of a play created by our founding Director, Ralph Wakefield. Watch this space for upcoming details! We should also point out the Pelican Playhouse is celebrating its own historical milestone — 25 years of community theater in Miami Springs.

We are incredibly thankful for our partnership with the City of Miami Springs and grateful to the Village of Virginia Gardens, our dedicated volunteers, and our families. A special thank you to our 2025 Playbill sponsors (listed below), and everyone who helped us raise over $2,000 on Give Miami Day in 2025.

Community theater is a hands-on group effort, and we couldn’t do it without your continued support.
